“Forgiveness is the name of love practiced among people who love poorly. The hard truth is that all people love poorly. We need to forgive and be forgiven every day, every hour increasingly. That is the great work of love among the fellowship of the weak that is the human family.” Henri Nouwen
We all have unmet expectations, and sometimes that makes us angry.
When we are angry, we hold onto that anger and refuse to forgive.
We carry our anger around like our friend, when, really, anger is an enemy that will consume us.
We all love poorly, but we don't have to.
The greatest act of love starts with forgiveness.
I'm always challenged by this truth. Forgiveness is an attitude I want to have, as Nouwen says, "every hour increasingly."
How about you? How well do you forgive? Who do you need to forgive today? This hour?
