Yearbook Night

Earlier this year I was reading this blog post about a family that had created a tradition of having Yearbook night.  I liked the idea of capturing the everyday moments in our family life.  However, what appealed to me even more was the thought that we'd have another reason to linger at the dinner table.  (It also helps us to be patient with that one person in the family who is a slow eater!) A few days later I picked up a blank sketch book and we keep it next to The Christmas Box.   It turns out that the kids call "YEARBOOK NIGHT" (they say it in all caps) more often than we do and they come up with something original every time. We are making up our "rules" for the book as we go and staying flexible.  So far, we've been using lots of crayons.  Eight months in and it's still evolving, but we're having fun.

It's a great family present - especially if comes wrapped with a box of  crayons or gel pens.  I'm thinking that it might be my "go to" gift this Christmas season.
